(CitizensOutpost) One of the U.S. attorneys for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, is refusing to follow the Trump Administration’s order to resign.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Friday asked 46 attorneys appointed by former President Obama to submit their resignations, including Bharara.

“HOLDOVER: Bharara is not submitting his resignation, according to several ppl briefed – WH not responding to what they’ll do next,” the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman tweeted Saturday.

CNN’s Jake Tapper also reported that Bharara was refusing to resign.

The announcement came Friday when Jess Sessions asked former attorneys to resign.  Out of the 93 U.S. attorneys, 46 remain from the Obama administration.

According to an exclusive report by The Daily Beast, Bharara explaned to his chiefs that he did not submit the requested letter and was instead challenging Jeff Sessions to fire him.

Bharara’s office is working through an investigation of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and about to start the trials of two close allies to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Bharara built a reputation in New York by going after big banks and Wall Street.

It is yet to be seen how Sessions will respond to Bharara.

UPDATE: Sources are now reporting that Bharara has been fired.
