(CitizensOutpost) President Trump is attempting to speed up the deportation process of illegal immigrants by relocating judges to detention centers.
In a letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) obtained by Reuters, the Trump Administration is moving 50 judges to detention facilities in areas like Adelanto and San Diego, California, as well as Chicago, Illinois.
The DOJ has also asked immigration judges to hear cases starting as early as 6AM all the way to 6PM.
A source close to the DOJ told Reuters that judges will be able to volunteer for the some 50 deployments to detention centers, but if not enough signed on, judges would be assigned.
The result of these changes should increase the efficiency and turn over rate of deportations. The Trump administration has also requested that the “expedited deportation proceedings” should apply to illegal immigrants that have been in the U.S. for two years or less, which would be a drastic increase from the previous limitation of immigrants who have only been in the U.S. for two weeks or less.
