(CitizensOutpost) Chinese state broadcaster CCTV has reported flights to Pyongyang, North Korea have been cancelled by China’s national airline, Air China:

CCTV had reported that all flights run by the airline between the two cities were to be suspended indefinitely.

Although that was the official report from state owned media, the airline gives more of an innocuous account of the report:

“Air China did not stop operation of the Beijing to Pyongyang route, but temporarily canceled some flights based on the situation of ticket sales,” said a person in Air China’s communications team.

Subsequent flights would be scheduled according to ticket sales, the official said.

This comes on the heels of China banning imports from North Korean coal since February 26th, a sanction imposed due to repeated missile tests that drew the attention and criticism of the United States and other Asian allies.
